Nostalgia
An exhibition showcasing a huge variety of contemporary art exploring the feelings of nostalgia.
We are thrilled to announce our relaunch exhibition named ‘Nostalgia’. This exhibition looks to showcase a wide range of contemporary art in all forms, exploring the feeling of nostalgia and what these can mean to each person.
Nostalgia is a sentimental longing for something in the past. Whether we feel drawn towards an object, a place, a person, a colour, a sound, this feeling of remembrance is a personal experience that can bring forth a mix of emotions.
We want to showcase all forms of work including a mix of mediums, all from local artists creating work that fits the theme of ‘Nostalgia’.
The exhibition is held at the Longsight Art Space. Most of the pieces are for sale and there are prints on sale from the artists too. The exhibition is open to public from Tuesday the 3rd December to Saturday 7th December.
Applications now closed!
We’re looking for artworks that represent the theme of Nostalgia. The subject is completely up to you, as long as it represents something nostalgic. It could be a childhood place, an object, a colour, whatever you feel portrays this theme.
Applications are open to artists living / working / studying in the North West including Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.
This is open to all types of art forms from paintings, prints, sculptures, photography, textiles and more. How the theme of ‘Nostalgia’ is interpreted is up to you artists.
The exhibition is open to 2D and 3D work. 2D work must not be bigger than 1.5 x 1.5 approx. 3D work must be able to be displayed on a 40cm x 40cm surface, or the artist must supply their own plinth if a bigger size is needed. We sadly can not accept any sound, video, installations or performance pieces. There are plugs onsite if you wish to use them for your work.
Note: If you are selected for the exhibition, you can also bring along a small selection of prints/additional work that you wish to sell. We will have browsers and display units to show these. You can bring these at no extra charge, but if any of these additional items sell, we will ask to take a 30% commission. You do not need to send/upload images of the additional items you will bring, and more information will be sent if you are successful.
The deadline to apply is 9:00pm Monday 18th of November and we will let all applicants know the result by end of Wednesday the 20th of November.
Please note: If selected, your work must be ready to be installed, be it a canvas or framed, and this has sufficient hooks/string etc ready for hanging, and you will be available to drop this off to Longsight Art Space on Monday the 2nd December before 12:30pm. Any issues please don’t hesitate to get in contact and we will try to accommodate.
